Are you angry? Of course you are. Maybe it’s your neighbour who drops cigarette butts on your window ledge from above, the man who cuts in front of you in the sandwich queue, the job you didn’t get, the way your spouse snores, the injustice of illness, war, terror. It’s enough to make you explode.
So explode onto the page. Over five one-hour online sessions across five weeks, write about what makes you tick like a bomb. Learn which constraints keep your rage alive on the page, let it transform, and make it land with your reader.
We’ll read some of the great writers of rage and polemic, including James Baldwin, Mahmoud Darwish, Christopher Hitchens, Jamaica Kincaid, Audre Lorde, Lu Xun, Fernanda Melchor, Abdellah Taïa, Mark Twain and Cornel West.
Together, we’ll write and share work (optional) that explore satire, fury, the theory of anger and comic everyday rage.
A wonderful depiction of rage (highly recommend this first series of Beef)
